Billing U.S. Clients From Abroad

Use occupational evidence without inventing a location discount.

Separate evidence from negotiation

Your country determines whether certified local occupational data is available and how currency is displayed. It does not apply a hidden client-country, purchasing-power, or location multiplier.

Use the two evidence views correctly

A local employee statistic and modeled benchmark lead only when the selected occupation reaches Certified Local Primary. Local Context Only and Local Unavailable states do not lead. A separate U.S.-anchored International Reference can provide orientation; neither automatically sets the quote for a U.S. client.

Build the quote

  1. Start with the occupation benchmark and its source limitations.
  2. Calculate your personal minimum separately.
  3. Define scope, deliverables, revisions, currency, payment method, fees, and tax responsibilities.
  4. Use urgency, scarcity, and client budget as negotiation context—not as hidden formula inputs.
